- DIMAPUR — Following
an inquiry into allegations of land encroachment at Dimapur Airport, the
Special Investigation Team (SIT) has filed chargesheets against 25 private
individuals, with further prosecution proceedings pending against six government
officials.
- According to a statement from the office of the
Superintendent of Police, State Crime Police Station (SCPS) on Friday, the case
stems from a preliminary enquiry ordered by the state Home Department. The
enquiry was launched to examine reports of land encroachment facilitated
through forged and fabricated documents.
- “Based on the outcome of the preliminary enquiry and
establishing that prima facie a cognisable offence was made out, a regular
Criminal Case (FIR) was registered at State Crime Police Station (SCPS), PHQ,”
it stated.

- An SIT was constituted to conduct a detailed probe and after
thorough investigation and evidence gathering and scrutiny, the team found
grounds to recommend the chargesheeting of 31 accused persons—comprising 25 private
individuals and 6 public servants—under various sections of the Indian Penal
Code (IPC), including charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery.
- The chargesheets against the 25 private individuals have
been filed in the Dimapur court, the statement confirmed.
- “For the remaining 6 public servants, who are accused, the
investigation officer and SIT, has prayed for obtaining sanction for
prosecution from Department of Personnel & Administrative Reform (P&AR)
and the Department of Land Record, Nagaland, as required by law,” it added.
