DIMAPUR — A resting shed at Sishunu and a multi-purpose court at Zisunyu under the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) were inaugurated on Saturday. The projects were implemented under Batch-IV Villages as part of the Entry Point Activity (EPA).
At Sishunu, the resting shed was inaugurated by Dr. Sevono Seletsu, divisional forest officer and DMU head, Kohima, stated a DIPR report.
Addressing the gathering, she said Sishunu was fortunate to receive such infrastructure and encouraged villagers to maintain the resting shed and other EPA facilities with care.
Joel Kath, chairman of the village council, said the resting shed serves a significant purpose, as it is something everybody needs. He expressed confidence that the structure would serve the community for many years while assuring that future renovations would be undertaken by the village community to preserve its usefulness.

The GB of Sishunu expressed gratitude for the successful completion of the resting shed near the village cemetery, describing the project as not only a present necessity but also a valuable asset for future generations.
At Zisunyu, Dr. Sevono Seletsu stated that with the completion of the EPA, one of the project’s goals had been achieved. She highlighted that the multi-purpose court, built with standardised planning and design, was a collaborative effort dedicated to the welfare of the community.
She urged villagers to maintain the court well and enhance it further. She added that the infrastructure would not only benefit Zisunyu but also provide opportunities for neighbouring villages, fostering sportsmanship and unity through sports.
Solo Semp, chairman of the village council, said that Naga youth had long struggled with the absence of proper sports facilities, limiting their ability to compete at higher levels. He said that the construction of the multi-purpose court has given new hope, enabling the youth to compete and grow.
Meanwhile, Sonyelo Semp, chairman of the JFMC, said the project fulfilled a long-cherished dream of the village youth. He credited the village council for its encouragement and contributions, which played a key role in completing the project.
