Kohima, Nov. 21 (EMN): Silver Backs and Diphu XI confirmed their semi-final berth in the ongoing 10th edition of Silver Cup T20 cricket tournament organised by Nepali Baptist Church's youth department Kohima at Jakhama local ground, on Thursday.
Playing the third quarter-final match, Silver Backs comfortably defeated T Khel Model village by 108 runs, informed an update received here on Thursday.
T Khel Model village put Silver Backs to bat first after winning the toss but the latter scored 181 runs for loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Rupom Das contributed 64 runs and Raj Mandal 40 for Silver Backs while T Khel Model village’s bowling attack was led by Vilalie with three wickets and Kelhousilie two.
Chasing a big total, T Khel Model village succumbed to pressure as they were bowled out for just 73 runs in 18.3 overs. Timothy was the leading scorer for the team with 16 runs.
Ram Thakur, who took five wickets while giving away just seven runs in 3.2 overs, was declared man of the match. Sujit Paswan also took three wickets for Silver Backs, giving away only three runs in four overs.
In the last quarter final match, Diphu XI defeated Mokokchung United by six wickets
Batting first, Mokokchung United were bowled out for 78 runs in 18.3 overs with Tejosel scoring 31 runs. Leading Diphu XI’s bowling attack was Raju Ghosh, who took five wickets and gave away 9 runs in 3.3 overs.
The update informed that Diphu XI chased down the target in 15.3 overs for loss of four wickets. Sarklinso Terang and Mridul Rongpi were the leading scorers for the team with 22 and 17 runs respectively.
Mokokchung United’s bowling attack was led by Bedisi with two wickets. Raju Ghosh of Diphu XI was awarded man of the match.
