The Northeast Frontier Railway will increase the frequency of Silchar–Maishashan passenger trains to six days a week from July 28, enhancing regional connectivity.

DIMAPUR — The Northeast Frontier Railway has announced an increase in the frequency of two pairs of passenger trains operating between Silchar and Maishashan, aiming to improve regional connectivity and support local economic activity.
Train numbers 55662/55661 and 55686/55685, which currently run two days a week, will operate six days a week starting from July 28. The move is expected to ease travel for daily commuters, students, traders and office-goers between the two towns and surrounding areas.
According to a press statement issued on Friday, train no. 55662/55661 will now run daily except on Fridays, while train no. 55686/55685 will operate every day except Sundays. Both trains will run in both directions between Silchar and Maishashan.

The increased frequency is also expected to benefit small traders and farmers by improving transport of agricultural produce and essential goods. The NFR noted that enhanced rail services would provide a boost to the region’s local markets and livelihood activities.
Passengers have been advised to check train timings and stoppage details through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or NF Railway’s social media platforms before planning their journey.
