Sikkim's Asish Limboo wins the Champion of Champions title at the 2nd Mr. Northeast Bodybuilding Championship in Kohima.
KOHIMA — Asish Limboo of Sikkim won the Champion of Champions title at the 2nd Mr. Northeast Bodybuilding and Physique Championship, held at the Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima on Saturday.
Limboo received a cash prize of INR 1 lakh along with a trophy and certificates.
The championship was organised by the Nagaland Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBBA) in association with the Northeast Bodybuilders Federation (NEBBF), bringing together bodybuilding and physique athletes from across the Northeast.
In the individual weight categories, Bhaskar Jyoti Das of Assam won the 55 kg category, followed by Kiojak Guha of Arunachal Pradesh and M Phimas of Manipur in second and third positions, respectively. Worthan Lunglo of Manipur emerged as the winner in the 60 kg category, with Bijoy Sarkar of Arunachal Pradesh securing second and Lungreishum Kasar of Manipur third.
In the 65 kg category, Mishap Khapai of Manipur secured first position, followed by Ashik Debarma of Tripura and Hmangaihzuala of Mizoram. Pritam Nahakpam of Manipur won the 70 kg category, followed by Wemu Tulang of Arunachal Pradesh and Thaichang K Marak of Meghalaya in second and third positions.
Limboo also secured first position in the 75 kg category, while Tarh Peter of Arunachal Pradesh was second and Uttam Tripura of Tripura third. Jeremy Lallawmzuala of Mizoram won the above 80 kg category, with Lalit Rai of Sikkim finishing second and Vikash Chettri of Meghalaya third.
In the Men’s Sport Physique category, Daimalu Brahma of Arunachal Pradesh won first position, followed by Surojit Das of Assam and Vekuto Nyekha of Nagaland. Niamuamara of Arunachal Pradesh won the Women’s Model Physique category, while Anita Chettri of Sikkim and Juma Basumatary of Sikkim secured second and third positions, respectively.
Kohima Municipal Council Councillor Medoviu Martin Suohu, who attended the championship as special guest of honour, said the Northeast had immense talent and expressed confidence that athletes participating in the event had the potential to represent the region and the country at bigger platforms.
He encouraged young people to take up fitness and stay away from unhealthy habits, while acknowledging the training, discipline, diet, and sacrifices involved in bodybuilding.
Guest of honour Imnalensa, IGP (Armed BN-NAP), said the event provided a platform for talented youth from across the Northeast to showcase their potential. He described the Northeast as a region rich in talent across sports, music, art, culture, and entrepreneurship, adding that what young people required was the right opportunity and platform to flourish.
Imnalensa also called for greater community participation in addressing drug and substance abuse in the region. He urged the NBBA and NEBBF to include the fight against drugs and substance abuse among their objectives.
The event was also addressed by Swamy Ramesh Kumar, President of the Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF), and Pema WD Bhutia, President of the NEBBF.
