Dimapur, Sep. 16: The Organisation of Musicians and Artists of Sikkim (Omas) in association with Gandhar Music Academy organised a daylong fund raising event in aid of the people affected by the monsoon emergency in Nagaland. The event was held on September 16 at the Central Park at Namchi in south Sikkim.
Founding member of Omas, Sonam Gyalsten Bhutia told Eastern Mirror that the charity was about being united during good times and during the bad times.
“Nagaland being one of the seven sisters of Northeast India, we decided to support by doing this charity show and because of the brotherhood we stand for,” Bhutia said.
Bhutia informed that as many as 40 musicians and artistes in the state performed voluntarily in aid of Nagaland.
The organiser also informed that during natural calamities in other states of the country and Nepal, such as the flash floods at Uttarkhand, the Nepal earthquake and even in their own state when landslides had occured, the Omas had initiated fund raising events in aid. One such recent event was a charity event for the floods in Kerala, and now, for Nagaland.
