- DIMAPUR — Affirming
to march towards a new vision in unity, the Signal Phom Union Dimapur (SPUD)
celebrated its 25th anniversary milestone on Saturday at the Signal Phom
Baptist Church premise in Dimapur.
- The special guest of the silver jubilee, MLA A Pongshi Phom,
in his address, advocated for a society fostering constructive idea and
protecting one’s ethnic identity. The legislator expressed his disappointment
over distortion of traditional attire to blend with the contemporary attire.
- “When our attire does not match displaying like we are not
from the same community, how will a community unite and match with each other.
We are social animal and our attire is our identity. Do not distort your tribal
identity by misinterpreting the designs of our traditional attire that was
conceived by our forefathers with so much of efforts,” he asserted.
- The legislator also urged the community to imbibe and
participate in constructive ideas as he pointed out that only the constructive
group progresses in society.

- “We should always carry constructive idea so that we do not
attract any negativity and the wrong. Let us not be a rotten potato of our
community and be destruction to our community and society,” he added.
- On the occasion, Phom persuaded every person to register
themselves with their respective union stating that man as a social animal
requires social interaction, relationship to thrive in a society for each
other’s well-being.
- The guest of honour, MLA B. Bangtick Phom, lauded the union
for displaying unity and attaining 25 years milestone. He observed that because
of the unity, the Signal Phom Union in Dimapur could come thus far to celebrate
silver jubilee.
