Shurhonieyi Soho is Phek area wrestling champ

EMN PHEK, JANUARY 19 Shurhonieyi Soho of Phek village on Tuesday emerged the champion of the 24th wrestling meet of the Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) which was held at Phek Town Local Ground. Vekuzo Vezhu of Khomi came second while Külüveto Venuh of Phek village Kewecholo Akami of Losami were adjudged the third and fourth position winners. Earlier, gracing the wrestling event as the chief guest, MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu said fearing God, hard work, sincerity, strength and courage are the pre-requisite for a good sportsman and champion. He said for the Chakhesangs, wrestling has always been an event which brings the people together, unity, oneness and brotherhood. The MLA sponsored the first, second and third prizes of the competition while the fourth prize was sponsored by Dr. Küvezochi Hoshi.Later, the valedictory function was graced by the DC Phek Murohu Chotso as the guest of honour. Altogether, 44 wrestlers participated in the Naga style wrestling meet. Mention may be made here that with this year’s win, Shurhonieyi Soho has claimed the PAWA championship for the sixth time.
