Short circuit causes fire in Dimapur’s Lhomithi Colony

A short circuit triggered a fire in Lhomithi Colony, Dimapur, partially damaging a building and destroying cash reportedly worth INR 1.20 lakh.

DIMAPUR — A fire broke out at Lane 2 in Lhomithi colony, Dimapur, at around noon on Thursday.


Sub-Inspector T Akamba Tikhir of the West Fire Station said that a distress call was received at 12.35 pm, following which two fire tenders with personnel were dispatched to the site.

Two more fire tenders from the Central Fire Station also reached the location, but residents had already managed to douse the flames before their arrival.


Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a short circuit.

One room of an RCC building was partially damaged. Fire personnel reported that cash amounting to INR 1.20 lakh was destroyed in the blaze, although the house owner claimed a loss of INR 8 lakh, which could not be verified.
