Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): After reports emerged that a Covid-19 positive frontline bus driver had sneaked out of the quarantine centre to be with his family residing at Darogapathar village in Dimapur, the village council on Saturday imposed an emergency closure of business establishments and restricted movements in the colony.
However, the general secretary of the Darogapathar Village Council (DVC) said that they would discuss if imposing full closure was necessary since all immediate members of the bus driver were tested negative for the Covid-19.
"The wife and three children of the positive frontline worker (bus driver) have tested negative this evening; we will convene another meeting to discuss whether it is necessary to have full closure of shops in the colony," the general secretary of DVC said.
The convener of the Covid-19 task force of DVC, R Kin, informed Eastern Mirror that the driver had sneaked out of the quarantine centre last Sunday.
“We had no idea that he was home; only yesterday (June 26) we came to know; he had supposedly stayed for four days at home,” informed Kin. “From the village side, we will also inquire about the persons they might have come in contact with but according to medical officials, contact tracing has almost completed,” he added.
