Dimapur, Feb. 24 (EMN): Adhering to an appeal made by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and in complying to the decision of the Confederation of Nagaland Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI), business community in Dimapur and Zunheboto districts would join the Bharat Vyapar Bandh on February 26 by shutting down shops from 8 am to 4 pm.

A Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (DCCI) statement issued by its president Akashe Zhimomi appealed to the entire business establishment to strictly comply with its directive stating that the bandh is for the benefit of all the business community. DCCI has directed the entire business establishment within its jurisdiction to strictly close business on February 26 from 8 am to 4 pm.

It mentioned that the GST regime, which was implemented in 2017 across India, has become burdensome to comply with and has become too complicated a tax system. It added that the whole system of GST tax system has become problematic for the traders of the country.

DCCI informed that it would deploy its volunteers for strict compliance. It further requested the law enforcing agencies to take precautionary measures so that no undue advantage is taken by anti-social elements.

The Nagaland Medical Dealers’ Association (NMDA) also decided to join the Bharat Vyapar Bandh on February 26.

A NMDA’s statement issued by its joint information secretary Arijit Sharma stated that the bandh was to urge the union government to simplify GST regime, which according to him, is creating hardship and becoming difficult to comply.

Stating that pharmacies and medicine dealers would remain closed on February 26 from 6 am to 4pm, NMDA appealed to the consumers to bear with the inconvenience and stand in solidarity with the business community.

In another statement, the Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ZCCI) has decided to observe a shutter down from 6 am to 4 pm of all business establishments on February 26 to raise the issue of the current state of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

ZCCI president Y Kikheto Muru and the joint secretary Vitoka V Achumi have requested all the business members to co-operate and support the bandh. ZCCI further appealed to all the concerned citizens of Zunheboto town to co-operate and bear the inconveniences.
