Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): The Atoizu Tokujo Kukami Hoho (ATKH - Atoizu Area GB’s Association) on Saturday celebrated silver jubilee at Atoizu local ground with Parliamentary Secretary for Justice & Law Picto Shohe as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Shohe recalled that his commitment was to construct roads and build bridges under Atoizu area and accordingly work orders for six bridges have been issued some of which have started construction.
He said Aizuto to Atoizu road spanning 14 km is under construction. Pointing out that owing to climatic condition this year, he said various works have been hampered, and to which Shohe appealed GBs and public to cooperate with the authorities.
Another commitment, he made was blacktopping of Atoizu town which he said was completed. The MLA also said he has been working to see National Highway pass through Saptiqa area under Atoizu.
“There is not enough development especially in road sector under Atoizu and I am trying my best to bring more development,” he said.
The legislator appealed leaders of the area to lead the public in extending support and cooperation towards any development projects initiated by the government. He said the ATKH motto, ‘Peace and Protection’ was appropriate and added that peace and protection could be brought about by leaders including GBs.
Drawing reference to Genesis 1:26, Shohe called for joining hands with God at the forefront to reign in peace in the society. He also called upon the GBs to the public in the same way that forefathers did with sincerity and honesty.
Quoting Billy Graham’s words, “Life is not an easy road,” he appealed the GBs to live a faithful life adding that their responsibility was not confined only within the family but expands to the society. He said their responsibility was not an easy one but encouraged that everything was possible with the help of God.
The MLA who is also a GB advised GBs to differentiate between their responsibilities towards the society and the Church.
Prior to the programme, Shohe unveiled the jubilee monolith.
Lauding the ATKH for attaining 25 years, Atoizu ADC, Arikumba urged GBs to understand the needs of the public and sincerely work for them. Stating that a jubilee was a milestone, he encouraged them to march ahead with progress and unity.
First president of ATKH, Hetoyi also spoke at the programme.
Men and womenfolk of Vekuho Old village and Atoizu town performed cultural items during the programme.
Earlier, Class - I Contractors’ Union general secretary, L Pukhato Shohe inaugurated the ATKH office building constructed by him.
The jubilee celebration was attended by a host of GBs under Atoizu area and Zunheboto, representatives of Sumi Totimi Hoho, Atoizu Area Sumi Totimi Hoho, Atoizu Area Students’ Union, Saptiqa Area Students’ Union, a host of Church leaders and others.
