Dimapur, Jan. 9 (EMN): Under the project RBSK- Shija Children Heart Beat Phase-3, Shija Hospital and Research Institute Private Limited, Imphal, has successfully performed 32 device closures, which were sponsored by RBSK and partial contribution by the patients.
In the first phase, the hospital successfully performed 11 device closures on 10 patients, followed with 14 device closures in the second phase. The project culminated with seven device closures in the third phase.
A large PDA device closure was successful performed on January 8 on a three months old child weighing only five kilos from Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Imphal West for the first time in Manipur. The child was presented with a problem of PDA and bronchopneumonia and was admitted on December 25, 2017, at NICU, Shija Hospitals for further treatment.
A press release issued by Premjit Lourembam, deputy manager of business development, stated that the child would be discharged after two days.
He also informed that RBSK - Shija Children Heart Beat (4th Phase) would be held from February 9 to 13. Children born with holes in the heart are asked to contact Dr. Lukram Sidartha, Consultant Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon, Shija Heart Beat from 10 AM to 1 PM on all days except Sunday on or before February 9 for necessary screening and advance registration.
