Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): Sharingain Longkumer, the consensus candidate of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party and the People’s Democratic Alliance for the 26-Aonglenden assembly constituency by-election on Thursday expressed happiness at learning that his “elder brothers ToshipokbaLongkumer and O TinuLongkumer” have decided to lend their support and join the NDPP and the PDA alliance government by withdrawing their respective candidatures.
“I am humbled by their kind gestures and also emboldened by their decisions to support my candidature. I also thank the Almighty for the blessings that He has showered on me since I started this campaign to contest in this by-election.
“I would also like to appeal to the masses not to be swayed away by the rumours and false information regarding the PDA alliance in general and also my candidature in particular. As stated earlier since the start of my campaign, ‘I pray and seek for your trust and faith in me the same way as I put my trust in each one of you.’
“I am overwhelmed and humbled by the support that I am receiving and request all to continue to support me with same fervour in our quest for a better land,” read a statement from the candidate on Thursday.
