SFS and Modern Christian School win on day two of the Medziphema Interschool Football Tournament.
DIMAPUR — SFS Higher Secondary School and Modern Christian School registered victories on day two of the 9th Medziphema Interschool Football Tournament at the Local Ground.
The tournament is organised by the Medziphema Town Students’ Union (MTSU), according to an update.
In the afternoon match, SFS Higher Secondary School defeated King David Higher Secondary School 2-0. In a tightly contested clash where both sides contested for midfield dominance, SFS proved more clinical from set pieces. Lengoungam headed home twice to seal the victory.
In the evening fixture, Modern Christian School defeated Chakhroma Baptist Mission School 2-1. Modern Christian School took an early lead in the first half when Hanginlen scored with a powerful shot into the far corner of the net.
Chakhroma Baptist Mission School equalised just before half-time through Megokhotso, who tapped in from a through ball. In the second half, a goalkeeping error from Chakhroma Baptist Mission School allowed Rekuta to score the winning goal for Modern Christian School.
On September 9, Rivenburgh School will play Chakhroma Baptist Mission School in the afternoon match, while Assam Rifles Public School will face Government Higher Secondary School in the evening fixture.
