SF nabs NSCN (IM), NSCN (R) cadres

Dimapur, Feb 27: In a series of intense operations on underground outfits, Security Forces (SF) struck another blow to NSCN (IM) by arresting one ‘SS’ Lance Cpl Akha Wangsu from Niausa village on February 27. ‘SS’ Lance Corporal Akha Wangsu was nabbed by Longding Battalion under the aegis of DAO division during operation basing on specific intelligence inputs about presence of one cadre trying to terrorise and attempting forced extortion in Longding town, security forces release said. The battalion apprehended ‘SS’ Lance Corporal Akha Wangsu with a pistol, live ammunition and opium. Post spot interrogation, he admitted allegiance to NSCN (IM) and further divulged that he has been an active part of the organisation since August 2015.It said Security Forces has been carrying out aggressive operations in South Arunachal Pradesh, adding the operation has tightened the noose around the group and has brought relief to the local population. In a related incident troops of 9 Assam Rifles apprehended one alleged NSCN (R) cadre from the general area of Porba Junction on February 25 during operation basing on specific input. The individual was identified as Vekupe, resident of Porba village. Assam Rifles statement said he had been carrying out extortion for the group on NH-29 and in Pfutsero town. Four royalty tax collection slips were recovered from his possession. He was later handed over to police at Kohima PS North.
