Seyochung Village Students’ Union holds 64th triennial session in Seyochung with Disani Newmai as special guest. Union seeks DGP aid for library upgrade.

DIMAPUR — On the second day of the ongoing 64th UBA triennial session of the Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) being held at Seyochung village in Kiphire, Disani Newmai, additional superintendent of police (SP), Kiphire, was the special guest.
Newmai was present at the event in place of Rupin Sharma, Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland, according to an update.
Addressing the gathering, Newmai stated that preserving culture alone is not enough and that the community must also encourage sustainability and constructive growth.
He emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence with all sections of society. He informed the gathering that the DGP could not attend the programme as he was engaged in an important Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) meeting in Delhi.
Delivering the keynote address, Longtili C Sangtam highlighted the legacy of Seyochung village, established in 1871 according to oral history, and the formation of the Seyochung Village Students’ Union in 1963. He added that the village is blessed and shared that the students’ union currently has 948 registered students.
Lichose Yangziba, in his address, called for unity among the people at all times.

Yangkhaba, Suro Pümji Abüdongba, encouraged students to let their education bear fruit and to know God to succeed. He stated that the students’ union has been strengthened with a renewed focus on improving schools in the village.
Assuring full support, he said the Suro Pümji stands with the students’ union in all efforts that benefit education and the welfare of the people.
Meanwhile, the SVSU submitted a letter to the DGP requesting assistance under the Social Assistance Programme for the upgrading of the existing village library.
In the letter, the union stated that the library requires improvement and modernisation due to limited resources. It proposed strengthening the facility by adding new books and introducing digital learning materials such as computers, educational software, and e-learning resources.
The union noted that the introduction of digital materials would help students gain access to updated knowledge, online educational content, and competitive exam preparation resources.
It added that an improved library would act as a centre for learning, discipline, and positive engagement.
