The current state of the road under construction between
Sitimi and Seyochung.
- DIMAPUR — In a
letter to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Seyochung HQ, Kiphire, the
Seyochung Village Students' Union (SVSU) expressed dissatisfaction with the
ongoing road metalling work between Sitimi and Seyochung.
- In it, the union stated that, despite having informed the
concerned department prior to the commencement of the project regarding its
expectations and concerns, there has been no visible seriousness in the
execution of the work.
- It went on to say that the project lacks proper supervision,
and there appears to be no standard in terms of quantity or quality.
- “Even during the course of the ongoing work, we have raised
concerns and communicated the need for immediate attention. Regrettably, no concrete
steps have been taken to address the issues raised,” the letter read, adding
that the road condition has degraded even before the project has been finished.
- The SVSU urged the ADC’s office to take this matter
seriously and initiate appropriate action against the irregularities observed
in the road construction, stating that the people of the area deserve a proper
and safe road, and any negligence in public works should not be tolerated.
