Health and Wellness Centre in Seyochung village.

  • DIMAPUR — The Seyochung Village Students' Union (SVSU) visited the Health and Wellness Centre in Seyochung village to discuss the various challenges faced by the centre with the community health officer on February 25.

  • According to an update, during the discussion, the officer pointed out that the labour room and toilet extension, which were supposed to be completed, have not even started. Another concern raised was the shortage of medicines. While the CMO office supplies medicines, the stock is insufficient to meet the needs of the patients.

  • The officer also shared that five neighbouring villages occasionally depend on this health centre, even though they do not visit regularly. When they do, the centre struggles to provide adequate medical care due to limited resources.

  • Additionally, the absence of a sweeper is affecting cleanliness and hygiene in the centre. With no one assigned to maintain cleanliness, the situation is becoming increasingly difficult.

  • There is also a shortage of healthcare staff. The officer explained that having only one auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) is insufficient for a large village like Seyochung. To ensure smooth operation, the centre needs at least two ANMs.

  • On Wednesday, the union wrote to the CMO of Kiphire regarding the same and mentioned the urgent need for an additional ANM at the centre.

  • Meanwhile, the SVSU on Wednesday wrote to the ADC of Seyochung HQ, Kiphire district, regarding the challenges faced by the students of Government High School, Seyochung Village, in registering for the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) due to the unavailability of Aadhaar cards.

  • It cited that, as Aadhaar is a basic requirement for APAAR registration, the lack of Aadhaar enrolment among the majority of students has made the process difficult.

  • The union requested the office to make necessary arrangements or provide assistance in facilitating Aadhaar registration for these students. Furthermore, it also highlighted the urgent need for a permanent Aadhaar enrolment centre at Seyochung HQ.

  • Consequently, the office of the ADC notified that the 3rd Comprehensive Aadhaar Camp Mode Coverage Plan is scheduled to be conducted from March 10 to the 13th for Seyochung and Sitimi.
