- KIPHIRE — The
Seyochung Village Students' Union (SVSU) held its 63rd session on Saturday with
Pilongla S Sangtam, the first woman president of the union, as the special
guest of the event.
- In his welcome address, Longtili C Sangtam, the union vice
president, expressed gratitude to the former members and guests for joining the
celebration. He expressed hope that the occasion would inspire the youth in
their endeavours for growth in business, sports, music, culture, academics and
competitive exams, thereby contributing to the overall development of the
village.
- Pilongla S Sangtam, in her speech, encouraged students to
embrace their identity and roots. She thanked the parents for their dedication
in nurturing students despite challenges and urged the students to see
challenges as opportunities for growth.
- She also expressed gratitude to the people of Seyochung for
supporting women in leadership roles and called for more opportunities to be
provided irrespective of gender.
- Delivering a short speech, the village council chairman,
Lichothri, called upon the students to aim for competitive exams beyond the
state level and to respect each other in all aspects of life.
- Also speaking on the occasion, Henzi, executive chairman of
Seyochung Citizens’ Forum, urged the students to be diligent in their pursuit
for excellence and contribute to the society.
