Seyiejalie Gwirie of Jotsoma village downed Megovizo Visienyü of Kiruphema village in the final bout to emerge as the champion of the light weight category of the 4th Naga Wrestle Mania (King of the Ring Series 2015).
Standing at 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 64 kgs, Seyiejalie, son of Thepfusato Gwirie came from behind to beat his opponent Megovizo, former champion of light weight category.
The champion walked home richer with Rs. 50,000 along with the Light Weight title belt, while the runner-up fetched a cash award of Rs. 30,000 and citation.
The third positions were bagged by Vevotso Lase of Thipuzu village and Tavesüh Tetseo of Thuvophisüh village. They both received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each.
All the top four wrestlers of light weight category have qualified to compete in the King of The Ring Series.
The other wrestlers who have qualified for the King of The Ring Series are, Kuolierie Kuotsu, Kikruvilie Khawakhrie, Visedelhou Chüsi, Rüpfüto Chuzho, Moses Poumai, Kuchohu Cürha, Seveto Rhakho, Tusovezo Venyo, Kh. Gilbert Poumai, Rokovotuo Khawakhrie, Apao, Khainii, Neisazo Dzüvichü, Huvovu Sazo, K. Kaizü Ramai, Vesünu Nyekha, Shetsü Vadeo Khoveto Lala, Webe Keyho, Mhiesilietuo Kuotsu, Kehousalie Kiekho, Thinozakie Sale, Keviselhou Sirie, S. Romio, Megovilhou Sechü and Sone Kho. The qualified wrestlers are the ones who won the first bout.
The inaugural day of 4th Naga Wrestle Mania, held at Kohima Local Ground, was graced by the officials of Nagaland Wrestling Association.On day-two, the wrestlers in middleweight and heavyweight will compete for the title in their respective categories, while the final day on October 31 will witness the King of The Ring Series 2015, wherein selected wrestlers from all three categories will compete for the coveted title. Day-3 will also witness the performance of junior wrestlers. The second day will be graced by officials of Angami Sports Association, while the closing function on Saturday will be graced by Khriehu Liezietsu, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, State Lotteries and Music Task Force, as the chief guest.
