
Dimapur, Dec. 18 (EMN): Kohima district unit of the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA) officially launched its first outlet ‘SEWA Dukaan’ at APO building on 2nd floor Room No. 27 in the presence of the guest speaker and assistant labour commissioner, Avile Vitso.
The programme was chaired by its general secretary, Angunuo Miari, while the concept and the persons working behind the scene was shared by Asalu Nyekha, North East Network (NEN) programme associate.
An update from NEN informed that the secretary of SEWA Kohima shared brief words of encouragement to the members and also dwelled on the need to work collectively to achieve the common goals.
The guest speaker shared her admiration for the works taken up by SEWA Nagaland since its formation. She also encouraged the association to continue striving for bigger and larger goals and wished that the outlet would expand to other districts across Nagaland in the years to come. Besides, she also appreciated the association for catering to the ever changing needs and demands of customers.
In this context, she stressed upon the members to be polite and treat each customer with respect irrespective even when the visitor does not make a purchase. She also urged the management team to understand and know the products sold at the outlet and be able to provide correct information to the customers.
An initiative supported by SEWA Bharat and facilitated by NEN, it informed that the outlet would cater to the home-based workers of Kohima district in the initial stage and later extend its services to other districts. The outlet would also provide a marketing platform for the home-based workers to sell their produce at fair price by ensuring quality products. It informed that the outlet would open at 9:30 am onwards from Monday to Saturday. It further informed that the outlet was one of its first initiatives to cater exclusively to home-based workers in Nagaland.
