Kohima: In view of the State Election Commission having announced the conduct of elections to the municipal and town councils across Nagaland on May 16, three organisations -- Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP), All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) and Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) -- along with other 36 town councils from various districts of Nagaland is holding an emergency consultative meeting in Kohima on Tuesday, March 21.
A source told Eastern Mirror on Monday that the organisations will discuss various pressing matters pertaining to the amendment of Nagaland Municipal Act 2001.

It may be recalled that the general election to the state’s Urban Local Bodies (ULB) was called off after stiff opposition from the citizens leading to loss of two lives in 2017.
