Several activities mark Jan Aushadhi week in Mokokchung

Dimapur, March 10 (EMN): Along with the rest of the country, Mokokchung district celebrated ‘Jan Aushadhi’ week from March 1 to the 7th on the theme “Seva bhi, Rozgar bhi’.

In order to create awareness on Jan Aushadhi, a free health check-up camp for blood pressure, sugar level and free doctor consultation was held at NCD Clinic, IMDH, on March 1, an update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mokokchung, stated.

On March 3, a team led by the CMO Dr. R Chubala Aier visited an orphanage home at Sabangya, which is being managed by Care and Support Society, Mokokchung. Besides interaction with the children and the caretakers, the team sensitised them on healthy living and personal hygiene. They were made aware on various benefits of Jan Aushadhi and also provided nutritional supplements.

On March 5, another team led by Dr. Kilangwabang Pongener, MD (medicine) and senior specialist of IMDH, Mokokchung, visited Old Age Recreation Centre at Dilong Ward in Mokokchung town. During interaction with the pensioners and aged participants, Dr. Pongener stressed on the importance of proper healthcare, cleanliness, nutrition and mental health. The participants were also sensitised on Covid-19 vaccination. The team also distributed free medicines. The celebration concluded on March 7 with the inaugurating 7500th Janaushadhi Kendra at NEIGHRIMS, Shillong
