Dimapur, Oct. 20 (EMN): United Naga Tribes Association on Border Area (UNTABA) has resolved to strengthen its demand for settlement of boundary between Nagaland and Assam at the political level based on historical facts and official documents.
The resolution to this effect was taken in its meeting on October 20 held at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur, after thoroughly deliberation on the vexed border issue between Nagaland and Assam.
The house also resolved to conduct exhaustive meetings on the issue with all the stakeholders including the Government of India, the collective leadership of NSCN (IM), Working Group of the NNPG, Government of Nagaland, Naga Hoho, ENPO (Eastern Naga People Organisation), NTC (Nagaland Tribes Council), CNTC (Central Nagaland Tribes Council), IMTN (Indigenous Minority Tribes of Nagaland), NGBF (Nagaland GB Federation), NPMHR (Naga People Movement For Human Rights), NCD (Naga Council Dimapur) and with all the tribal hohos of Nagaland.
The house also deliberated on the need to pursue for constitution of inter-state council for adjudication of boundary as per the constitutional provision of Article 263 and to conduct more public meetings in the so called Disputed Area Belt (DAB) for activating the role of the people in the border areas.
The house has also questioned the silence of 60 MLAs of Nagaland Legislative Assembly in general and the MLAs from the border areas in particular on their lackadaisical attitude on the issue.
While resenting the abject failure of the State government to adopt any resolution towards demanding the GoI to effect necessary amendment in the Section 3 of the State of Nagaland Act 1962, the house strongly urged the State government to consider for adoption of resolution in the next Assembly session as per the draft resolution copy submitted to the Government of Nagaland.
