Army officer pays tribute to sepoy Hungnga Konyak during the funeral service on June 19.[/caption]
Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): Sepoy Hungnga Konyak from 164 battalion of Territorial Army (H&H) Naga, was laid to rest with full military honours at his native village Longching under Aboi sub-division in Mon district on June 19.
Brig. MS Sidhu, commander of 7 sector; Col. Samrat Sengupta, commanding officer of Tuensang battalion; Lt. Col. Toshi Jamir of 164 battalion TA (H&H) Naga; Mankhao, OSD to chief minister; Thavaseelan Karunanidhy, deputy commissioner, Mon; and Cha Ahung, Konyak union president Longching area; were present to pay tribute to the noble soul in his final journey to heavenly abode and express solidarity and support to the bereaved family members.
It may be mentioned here that sepoy Hungnga Konyak was among the army patrolling party when they were attacked by armed militants near Aboi town in Mon district on June 17. He subsequently succumbed to injuries while evacuating to a hospital in Jorhat on the same day.
