A sensitization programme on National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), organized by District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Dimapur, for Seluophe village was held at Seluophe village ground on March 28. Delivering keynote address, Asangla T. Aier, Project Director, DRDA Dimapur said village development board and village council should work as one, playing its own role for the development and progress of the village. She also said that, there is always a conflict in the village where there is no cooperation between the village council and VDB. She also urged the public to cooperate with the VDB and village council.
Asangla further encouraged the villagers to take advantage of the facilities where NRLM has been brought at their doorsteps which villagers must utilize appropriately for development. Seluophe village being MP adopted village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Project Director said people village should be model for others to draw example from them.
Speech on sensitization of NRLM was presented by M. Yimok Phom, BPM, NSRLM, R.D. Block Chumukedima. She highlighted the vision of NRLM to eradicate poverty by reaching out to the “poorest of the poor”.
Other DRDA officials who spoke on the occasion include, Zitho Nythe DPO-I DRDA Dimapur and P. Koza DPO-II DRDA Dimapur.
NRLM launched by the ministry of rural development (MoRD) in June 2011, which is aided in part through investment support by the World Bank, aims at creating efficient and effective institutional platforms of the rural poor enabling them to increase household income through sustainable livelihood enhancements and improved access to financial services.
