Sensitisation for school management committees and school management and development committees underway in Nagaland

- DIMAPUR — A
one-day block-level sensitisation and training programme for school management
committees (SMC) and school management and development committees (SMDC) was
conducted in Phek, Zunheboto and Kohima districts.
- The convergence programme, jointly organised by the
Directorate of School Education (DoSE), Samagra Shiksha and the NECTAR Project,
aims to strengthen the SMC and SMDC in understanding their roles,
responsibilities and various initiatives and activities under the department of
School Education.
- A DIPR report stated that the programme commenced on March
17 and would continue till March 28 covering all the 46 blocks in Nagaland.
- The training for EBRC L Khel in Kohima village was held at
the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) chaired by Vizoneilie Pienyu,
coordinator of EBRC, L Khel, while the keynote address was delivered by
Ruokuoneinuo, assistant district coordinator of District Mission Authority,
Samagra Shiksha.
- A presentation on the achievements and activities of the department
was delivered by Lebu Krose, joint director of Education department. Some of
the activities highlighted were PM Poshan mid-day meal, free distribution of
school text books, yearly science activities, teacher’s award (district, state,
national level), scholarships for government schools, chief ministers
meritorious scholarship, governors scholarship, free de-worming drive and
distribution of iron and folic supplements in schools.
- Kelhikha Kenye, deputy mission director of Samagra Shiksha,
introduced the objectives and initiatives of Samagra Shiksha, emphasising the
need to strengthen school enrolment. He also provided an overview of the
automated permanent academic account registry (APAAR), highlighting its
benefits in ensuring the security and convenience of students' educational
documents.
- He informed that currently, only 26% of students in the
state have registered under APAAR.
- The session also highlighted topics like NIPUN Bharat, early
childhood care and education (ECCE) curriculum, Kala Utsav, inclusive
education, vocational education etc.
- Visato Koso, project coordinator of EBRC, NECTAR, spoke
about the inception of the NECTAR project and its key initiatives such as the
development of one lighthouse school complex across 16 districts of the state,
SMILE App, performance incentive grants (PIG), which has a strong community
participation and benefitted 99% (1914) of the government schools in the state,
exam reforms which is being implemented in collaboration with NBSE and the
various governance and capacity-building trainings conducted in collaboration
with DoSE and SCERT.
