Dimapur, July 22 (EMN): A senior leader in the hierarchy of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (IM), AZ Jami, has announced retirement “from primary and active membership of the NSCN on personal reasons from the date the resignation letter is published in the local newspapers.”
Jami issued a press statement containing a declaration of his resignation on Sunday. It stated that he had submitted his resignation to the “authorities concerned of the NSCN in writings as well as verbally” some few years back already.
“I am one of the very few surviving senior most Naga freedom fighters. But due to old age coupled with old age ailments I think I should not be so selfish to cling to a particular post. I have been compelled by circumstances to resign from active national service in my 63rd year of Naga national service. During the entire length of my humble service for the Naga nation I worked with zeal and passion and sometimes I have been over zealous.
“As such, during my long services for the Naga nation I might have commissions and omissions and hurting and offending many persons by my words and deeds (sic). For all these I deeply apologise to those who have been hurt and offended by my words and deeds. I am now fully satisfied because whatever people may say for and against me I have already contributed my mite for the cause of the Naga nation and the Naga people. Sacrificing the well-being of my parents during my young age and pitifully sacrificing the opportunities and well-beings of my spouse and children during my manhood,” the statement read.
Health permitting, Jami declared, he was ready to ‘respond positively’ in the event of being “called upon by the nation to perform any work for the Naga.”
