Dimapur, Jan. 25: Nagaland Senior Citizens’ Association (NSCA) has appealed the banks to set up a separate cash counter immediately to enable the aged and infirm pensioners to receive their pension with honour and dignity and without misery.
In a press note NSCA president, Dr. S.I. Tushi Ao and general secretary, S.Ghunakha Swu, said pensioners who were drawing their pensions at SBI Kohima Main Branch etc. in Kohima were facing hardships.
They also stated that the plight have been doubled for the pensioners whose numbers have increased to more than 4000 in North Treasury Kohima along, receiving the payment in a single cash counter with the imposition of demonetisation w.e.f. 08.11.16 till date.NCSA being empowered as per the Constitution Art 2 and 4, Section (iv), president and secretary of the association said NCSA has requested the bank several times to provide a separate payment counter for male and female.
Stating that senior citizens were physically infirm, mentally weak and persons of incomplete faculties and as such deserve preferential treatment and care, NSCA requested the banks to provide separate cash counter immediately.
