Senior citizen dies as fire engulfs private residence in Tuensang, destroying house and belongings; cause of blaze under investigation.

TUENSANG — A tragic fire incident in Tuensang town on Friday evening, December 19, claimed the life of a senior citizen and completely gutted a private residence.
According to reports, the fire broke out around 5.30 pm, reportedly from the kitchen area, though the exact cause of the incident could not be ascertained.
Officer-in-Charge of Tuensang Police Station, Yongkong Toshi, said that the police received information about the incident at 5.50 pm. By the time the report was received, personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services, along with local volunteers, had already begun efforts to contain the blaze.
An official report from Tuensang Police identified the deceased as a 68-year-old non-local, who had married into Chingmei village, acquired citizenship and was known as Bamo, formerly Rai. He was a retired Grade-IV employee of the 3rd NAP.
The report further stated that the victim had been living alone for the past few months, while his family members were staying in their native village and in other parts of the state.
The house was completely destroyed, along with all household belongings, police said.
