Death toll in the Senapati firing incident rises to three after Naga civilian Ashiho Sani dies of injuries. A condolence service was held in Senapati town on Sunday.
IMPHAL — The death toll from Saturday’s firing incident involving unidentified armed miscreants in Manipur’s Senapati district rose to three after another Naga civilian succumbed to his injuries early Sunday.
Ashiho Sani, 49, of Shajouba village, reportedly died at a private hospital in Senapati town, around 60 km north of Imphal, at about 3 am on Sunday.
Two people were killed and two others injured when unidentified armed miscreants opened fire at Kailenjang village on Saturday afternoon.
The two deceased were identified as Rocky of Chaowainamai village and Kumar of Laii Shirafii village. The other injured victim, Adani Manio, 33, is undergoing treatment.
A condolence service was held in Senapati town around 11 am on Sunday in honour of the three Naga civilian victims following Sani’s death.
A large number of people, dressed in black mourning attire, gathered at the venue to pay their last respects. Condolence messages were delivered by the president of the All Naga Students’ Association Manipur, vice-presidents of the Naga People’s Organisation and Senapati District Women Association, and a representative of Naga Youth Senapati.
The mortal remains of the three victims are expected to be taken to their respective villages for burial following the condolence service.
