Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): Senapati District Baptist Associations’ Fellowship (SDBAF), Mao Baptist Churches Association (MBCA), Maram Naga Baptist Association (MRNBA), Poumai Naga Baptist Association (PNBA), and Thangal Naga Baptist Association (TNBA) have strongly condemned and discouraged selling of rice beer and gambling in the ongoing Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) week, being organised by the SDSA for fund raise in aid of its office building.
A statement from the executive secretaries of the associations stated that while SDSA stands committed to work for the welfare of the people in general and students in particular, it is expected to set a good example for others to emulate.
Raising fund for a good purpose is legitimate and indisputable, however selling alcohol and wine openly to raise fund is wrong and unjustifiable as drunkenness leads to lots of society problem, it stated.
It said such activity is not expected in a Christian dominated area and in sensible society as it portrayed the bad image of the district headquarters and it would easily emulate to our children and students as well.
The associations said SDSA needs to apologize to the public and also stated that such activities should be condemned by every sensible citizen and organization and should not give any room for such activities to be repeated in our land in future.
SDBAF also condemned “The Hornbill Express” daily newspaper for rejecting the condemnation article given for the publication to express the concern of the church associations.
