Wokha, 24 May (EMN): A one-day seminar on dissemination of government schemes under Ministry of Textiles was organised by National Handloom Development Corporation Limited (NHDC) at Tiyi Hall Wokha on Tuesday.
During the programme, T Lankonsen Tsanglao, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, said that skill development is needed for youths today for guaranteed livelihood, stating that school curriculum can impart job oriented education besides traditional textbook knowledge. He informed to not only avail the schemes/benefit but cultivate it in a successful manner which will help in family income and progress of society.
Nchumbemo Patton, General Manager District Industry and Commerce Wokha, said there are multiple benefits through the Ministry of Textile and Handlooms, and called forward weavers’ society and individuals to avail the benefit and bring success stories to the department and for their own.
President of WDVCCA Vandana informed the concerned department to inform about various schemes and projects so that all villages in the district are benefitted through DIC.
Nilesh Sukhadev, Senior Manager, NHDC Ltd. Guwahati while sharing about the schemes and benefits said Nagaland is rich in textiles but unfortunate that ‘people don't come out to market’ their products. He said that many trade fair expo sales are set up regularly by the Ministry Of Textiles And Handloom where stalls are free for the sector. He urged to approach the Ministry of Textiles to avail the opportunity in the future, which will not only help in selling products but help to promote their business. He also encouraged young students to take professional studies in textile as it will help them to enhance their ideas and knowledge in the field of textile and fashion industry. He encouraged the congregation to cultivate their own fiber, adding that production on a larger scale will be acknowledged by the government and they will also receive assistance in various forms.
Mhalo Ezung chairperson, Charity Club MPS, Wokha encouraged the weavers to register their units and receive benefits through the Ministry of Textile. She suggested purchasing yarn requirements through their entitlement of registration at a larger scale with various subsidy rates.
During the programme, registered individuals received a yarn passbook card through the department of National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd sponsored by the development commissioner for handlooms.
Around 200 individuals from various handloom weavers and society turned up on the programme.
