- DIMAPUR — The Mon
District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) organised a seminar on road safety on
February 8 at Town Council Hall, Mon, on the theme "Parwaah karenge,
surakshit rahenge" (We care, we protect), with Pakon Phom, additional
deputy commissioner of Mon, as the special guest.
- The special guest highlighted that the aim was to promote
awareness of road safety and reduce the alarming number of road accidents,
according to a DIPR report. He urged participants to be more cautious and aware
of traffic rules.
- Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, SP Mon and member of the DRSC,
explained traffic rules and their importance. He stated that a simple mistake
can lead to serious consequences and encouraged participants to be
well-prepared, securing both their own lives and those of others.
- In the technical session, Khongwang, officer in charge of
Traffic Police, Mon, shared the importance of wearing seat belts and helmets.
He also encouraged participants not to use mobile phones while driving and not
to misuse driving licenses.
- Khoatun, ARSEI, explained the MV Acts and rules, while Birimong,
MVI, discussed traffic signs. Engo, ARTO, spoke on fines and penalties, and
Chemkhah, LDA, covered the topics of good Samaritan laws, hit-and-run cases,
and insurance.
