Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): Sema Tilla Colony, Dimapur, has observed its silver jubilee on October 13 with the presence of Advisor Urban Development, SI Jamir, and Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation and Flood Control, Tovihoto Ayemi.
Senior pastor of Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church, Rev. S Vitoshe Swu, who unveiled the jubilee monolith, dedicated the souvenir and invoked jubilee blessing by reading out scriptures (Isaiah 35:7-10) from the Holy Bible.
Greeting the gathering, SI Jamir lauded the pioneers of the colony stating that it was because of their sacrifice and hard work, residents are able to celebrate a jubilee today.
Stressing on the need of clean election, he called upon the people to support the clean election campaign by the NBCC. Stating that corruption has become rampant in the Naga society, he was of the view that the same could be contained when the election system is thoroughly cleaned up.
He also talked about the need to have an elected body for urban local bodies to enable the centre to release funds.
Exhorting the gathering, Tovihoto called upon the residents to reflect upon the true meaning of a jubilee and to forgive each other’s shortcomings and to take the community forward in the larger interest of the colony.
Stating that 25 years was only a foundation for more jubilees to come, he wished that the blessing of the jubilee be upon all the members of the colony.
Vihoshe Kini, GB of the colony, delivered welcome address while Khehuto Kiba, former chairman of the colony council, shared a brief history of the colony. K Kinilimi, chairperson of Sema Tilla Council, proposed vote of thanks.
