MOKOKCHUNG, SEPTEMBER 28
A ‘Free coaching Camp’ on self-defense and physical fitness awareness got underway on September 28 evening here at Multi-Purpose Sport Complex, Mokokchung. The camp is being organized by the Mokokchung District Martial Art Association (MDMAA) in commemoration of 125 years of Mokokchung Town celebration.
Martial Art from five disciples, namely Mauy Thai, Taekwondo, Boxing, Kang-fu and Karate—instructors will be imparting their technique to more than 100 volunteers partaking in the camp. The volunteers will undergo an intensive training from September 28 to October 10 learning the different defense techniques from different martial art disciplines.
Speaking at the inaugural programme as the special guest Colonel Sudesh Bhangar, the Commandant of the 31 Assam Rifles lauded the MDMAA for organizing camp.While maintaining that martial Art is the oldest form of self defense which takes years to learn and perfect their skills through determination and motivation Col. Bhangar also urged the participants to make the best used of it and learned the different martial art techniques imparted by instructors from different martial art disciplines.
Col. Bhangar also gives away the certificates received by Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association during the 28th Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship held on August 2015 at Kohima.
Altogether five gold medals, seven silver medals and nine bronze medals were bagged by Mokokchung participants during tournament held at Kohima from 13th – 15th August.
During the programme, Mauy Thai performed the Ram Muay Dance, Taekwondo demonstrated Poomsae (Kata), techniques and sparring, Boxing- Shadow boxing, punching pad and touching, Karate- Kata demonstration from DR Wati and Supong and the Kang-fu demonstrated the Single and double Nun-chuck, Iron Rod bending by neck and Tiles breaking.
An Instructor of the camp informed that the Camp will started from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm from tomorrow onwards.
