[dropcap]S[/dropcap]elected Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) of the state police department today attempted to stage demonstration in front of the state Chief Minister’s bunglow in Imphal this afternoon to lodge their demands.
The association of 315 ASI selected candidates have been demanding immediate issuance of their appointment letters. However, the move of the selected ASIs was foiled and controlled by the police when the candidates tried to approach near the state police headquarters in Imphal.
Earlier the association of 315 ASI selected candidates today draws the attention of the state authority to issue their appointment letter as soon as possible during a press conference at Manipur Press Club Imphal.The written examination test for the selection was conducted on December 31, 2010 at 2nd Manipur Rifles ground in Imphal and its result was declared on February 25, 2013, according to Nongthang Chingangbam, spokesperson of Assistant Sub-Inspector Selected Candidates and Parents/Guardians Association, 2010. Thus the visa-voce was conducted from May 22 to May 27, 2013. The result of viva-voce was declared on March 3 this year. After that on July 15 this year, a notice was issued asking the candidates to submit some documents to the state police headquarter. However, the process of collecting the required documents have been postponed indefinitely following another notice. After that the selected candidates urged the concern authority to issue their appointment letters on or before July 25. However, there is no response from the concern authority till date, according to the Association.
Besides this, the association has submitted memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister, Home Secretary, DGP Manipur and other concerned authorities. He further said that the candidates have been waiting for the said job for more than 3-4 years.
So, the government should re-think for a positive response as soon as possible to address the grievances of the candidates.
