Seized liquor destroyed in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, July 20 (EMN): Altogether 167 cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) including 162 cases of McDowell rum, 5 cases of McDowell whisky were destroyed in the premises of Session Court Complex, Mokokchung, today. [caption id="attachment_127579" align="alignnone" width="545"] Police personnel and members of Destruction Committee before destruction of the seized IMFL on July 20.[/caption] The banned IMFL were seized by Mokokchung Police Station-II and registered under PSII Case No. 0008/17 U/S 41/44 (e) NLTP Act. The destruction order was passed by Khape Koza, Principal District & Session Judge, Mokokchung, while the destruction was executed by Destruction Committee, it was informed. Police also informed that on July 3, Khape Koza, Principal District & Session Judge, Mokokchung, sanctioned destruction order to the committee to destroyed 259 cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). The seizure included 233 cases of Mc rum, 9 cases of OC Blue Whisky and 17 cases of canned beer. It may be mentioned here that illicit liquor continues to flow into Nagaland even after the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act was enacted in 1989 following the demand of the church bodies to declare Nagaland as “dry state.’
