The 4th Organic Naga King Chilli Festival 2026 was held at Seiyhama village, with annual harvest estimated at 3,200 tins and income projected at INR 30–32 lakh.
KOHIMA — The 4th Organic Naga King Chilli (Raja Mircha) Festival 2026 was held on Saturday at Seiyhama village in Kohima district, with Rev. Dr. Kevichalie Metha of Peraciezie Baptist Church, Kohima, officially launching the one-day festival.
Kevineizo Zumu, information and publicity officer of the organising committee, in his report on king chilli farming for 2026, said the total harvest so far stood at 1,700 tins, with each tin containing approximately 3.3 kg to 3.5 kg of fresh king chilli.
He said another 1,500 tins are expected to be harvested in the coming days, taking the annual harvest to an estimated 3,200 tins of fresh king chilli.
Zumu said the income from pickles and other value-added products made from king chilli is estimated at around INR 1 lakh to INR 2 lakh.
Taking the overall harvest into account, the annual income generated from king chilli farming is expected to be around INR 30 lakh to INR 32 lakh, he added.

Of the 482 households in Seiyhama village, 180 are currently engaged in king chilli farming.
In his message, Rev. Dr. Kevichalie Metha said the people have every reason to thank God for His love and blessings, while urging them not to forget them.

He said many families are able to meet their household needs through king chilli farming, while several parents are also able to finance their children's education through the income generated from the crop.
He further said king chilli farming has helped introduce Seiyhama village to people beyond the area. He commended the hard work of the farmers and encouraged them to continue their efforts.
