Dimapur, Oct. 24 (EMN): Kohima battalion (Naga Hills) of the Assam Rifles organised an interaction programme with martyrs’ families at its headquarters on October 21.
Commandant of Kohima battalion, in his briefing, covered about the various central and state government schemes available for war widows. The event concluded with the pipe band playing a number of patriotic tunes followed by a Barakhana.
Altogether 12 widows, 11 parents and five dependents attended the event.
In another programme, Tuensang battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on ‘World Polio Day’ in Jakphang village in Mon district on October 24.
The importance of pulse polio drops and the responsibility of every parent towards ensuring periodic administration for their children were covered.
Altogether, 60 locals including women, children and village functionaries attended.
In yet another programme, Phek battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on common disease and prevention on the theme ‘Stay fit, stay healthy’ at Higher Secondary School, Jessami, on October 23. The aim of the lecture was to create awareness regarding the symptoms, treatment and prevention of common diseases.
The lecture also covered common diseases in the region like scabies, ring worm etc. Altogether, 57 students and six teachers attended the interactive lecture.
Meanwhile, IGAR (North) has announced to organise an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) rally at Kashiram Basti, Dimapur, on November 10.
The aim of the rally was to address the concerns of Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris, Veer Bahadurs and Gallantry Awardees. The rally would also ensure necessary medical assistance by a group of medical specialists.
All Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen are requested to contact the nearest Assam Rifles for any queries regarding the event. It further informed all concerned to bring documents in original such as pension book, PPO copy, bank pass book and Aadhar card to facilitate hassle free registration for various schemes.
