Security forces recovered over 30 arms, explosives and ammunition in Kangpokpi district during coordinated search operations.

IMPHAL — Close on the heels of recent arms recoveries in Kangpokpi district, security forces on June 26 seized more than 30 arms, including an AK-47, along with four pistols and a cache of ammunition during a search operation in the district.
According to a police statement issued on Friday, the operation was carried out in the hill ranges between Maohing village and North Changoubung under Kangpokpi Police Station.
The recovered items included one AK-47 rifle with a magazine, one 9 mm carbine with a magazine, one .303 rifle, four pistols, 29 single-barrel guns, one .303 rifle magazine loaded with three rounds, 129 live rounds of ammunition of various calibres, two pumpis, three improvised bombs, 200 grams of PEK explosive, 36 hand grenades, and three Baofeng radio sets.
In a social media post on Friday night, Manipur Police said that security forces also recovered one SMG carbine along with a magazine and five bolt-action rifles from the foothills of Tentha Samuching under Khongjom Police Station in Thoubal district on June 26.
The latest recovery comes two days after a joint team of Manipur Police and the 19 Assam Rifles seized nine rifles along with ammunition from the general area southeast of Kotlen along a hill road in Kangpokpi district on June 24.
Earlier, on June 21 and 22, a combined team comprising Manipur Police, CRPF, the Rapid Action Force (RAF), CoBRA units of the CRPF, and the Army recovered more than 30 weapons during search operations in Leilon Vaiphei and adjoining villages in Kangpokpi district.
The haul included 17 single- and double-barrel guns, eight sophisticated weapons comprising two AK-47 rifles, one M4 carbine, two SLRs, one SKS rifle, and one improvised .303 sniper rifle, besides 11 single-barrel-loading rifles, assorted ammunition, communication equipment, and other war-like stores.
