Security forces seize illegal areca nuts

Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): As part of the ongoing crackdown on illegal activities, security forces seized areca nut at Oriental colony in Dimapur, on September 2.

A defence release stated that basing on specific information about consignment of areca nuts, the security forces along with the police representative launched an operation at Oriental colony and apprehended one Jai Narayan (40) from Matiyal village under Vaishali district in Bihar.

The joint team recovered 60960 kg of areca nuts amounting to approximately INR 1.77 crore from his possession.

The report further stated that the arrested person along with the seized areca nuts was handed over to the superintendent of Anti-Smuggling Customs Prevention Division, Dimapur.
