Security forces rescue student leader in Manipur

Imphal, Oct. 19 (EMN): A combined team of security forces rescued a student leader from a Hut in the eastern side of Koubru range during a non-stop intensive search operation in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, police sources said. The rescued student leader was Roshan Uprety (35) of Charhajare.

The combined team also arrested one Letmang Tuboi of Chalbung Village, Kangpokpi district in connection with the case and remanded into police custody.

The search operations were conducted by the combined teams of Kangpokpi District Police, Assam Rifles and police commandos led by Additional SP(Ops), Additional SP(L/O) both based in Kangpokpi and AR Motbung post commander in the specified area, about 5 km west of Mangjol Village at around 3:30 pm of Tuesday.

Subsequently, on reaching near the hut, one individual was found and the rest fled from the spot taking advantage of the thick jungle. The individual was later identified as Roshan Uprety.

Uprety was taken into police custody and brought to Gamphazol-Saparmeina police station, a source added.
