Weapons
and ammunition recovered during joint operations by security forces in Manipur.
DIMAPUR — In a series of successful joint
operations, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in coordination with Manipur
Police and other security forces, recovered weapons, ammunition, and other
warlike stores from both the hill and valley regions of Imphal East,
Tengnoupal, Yangiangpokpi, and Churachandpur districts of Manipur.
According to an update, based on specific intelligence
regarding the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Ngariyan
Hill in the Imphal East district, the Army, along with the police, recovered a
light machine gun, a 12-bore single-barrel gun, a pistol, two tube launchers,
explosives, ammunition, and other items on December 23.
On December 27, in the Tengnoupal district, a joint search
operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police led to the recovery of a
factory-made .303 rifle, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and grenades. The
operation also resulted in the identification and dismantling of three hideouts
on heights overlooking NH-102.
On December 27 and 28, security forces received information
about the movement of arms on a road towards Yangiangpokpi. The Army
immediately established a checkpoint on the road leading to Lamlong, conducted
a thorough search, and recovered two double-barrel rifles and one single-bore
rifle from two vehicles.
The recoveries have been handed over to the Manipur Police
for further investigation and disposal.
In Churachandpur district, a joint operation by Assam Rifles
and Manipur Police on December 27 led to the identification of an
under-construction post astride NH-2 in K Lhanghnom Vangkho village.
The post is suspected to have been used by miscreants. The
area is being extensively patrolled, and the structure was destroyed to deter
potential criminal activity.
