Dimapur, Nov. 5 (EMN): In a major setback to the NSCN (IM) Ganhee Wangpan a ‘self styled private’ was apprehended in the early hours on Nov. 5 by the Longding battalion, stated a press release from the press information bureau (Defence wing).
The press note stated that based on a specific input of a cadre trying to terrorise and extort money from Longding village, the battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended the ‘self styled private’ with a pistol and live ammunition.
Longding battalion under the aegis of DAO DIVISION has been carrying out relentless operations in south Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents and this apprehension will go a long way in creating fear among the anti national elements in the area, maintained the press note from the defence wing PRO.
The press release further stated that post spot interrogation, the cadre admitted to being active part of the banned outfit since 2010 and had undergone training at NSCN training camp.
The cadre has been actively involved in extortion activities in Longding and Tirap district and has been apprehended twice before in 2010 and 2012.
