Dimapur, Aug. 2 (EMN): In a major success to security forces, the Loktak Battalion of IGAR (South) under Spear Corps apprehended four insurgents of proscribed group NRFM and recovered one 09 mm Sig Saur P228 Pistol, 07 live rounds and other stores.
An update from PIB (Defence Wing) issued on Aug. 2 informed that the security forces and Bishnupur commando police established a mobile check post to track the movement of the insurgents based on a specific input leading to the apprehension.
On questioning and verification, the individuals turned out to be active insurgents of NRFM. Following their arrest, two more insurgents along with recovered stores were also apprehended from different locations.
The notorious terrorist group has been involved in extortion activities, IED blasts and also in killing of one non-Manipuri individual in Churachandpur district, the update informed.
The apprehended insurgents and recovered weapon, ammunition and other items were handed over to Moirang police station after due procedure.
