THE District Magistrate, Dimapur has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC, in view of the recent violence in the villages of Rilan, Indisen, Aoyimkum and Dikoi bordering the Doldoli Reserve Forest, Assam.
This sanction of prohibitory orders was contained in a faxed statement issued by the Home Commissioner of Nagaland, Temjen Toy on Tuesday. It however did not specify the time, or even the day, from which the order will come into effect.
The statement also noted that “certain groups of people” were entering the Doldoli Reserve Forest with the intention to settle there, while pointing out that such foray into a notified Reserve Forest was an offence liable for penalties under relevant laws.
“Now therefore this Public Notice is hereby issued for information of all concerned that any encroachment in the area(s) of Doldoli Reserve Forest will invite action as sanctioned under the relevant law and anyone indulging in such acts of encroachment shall be liable to be prosecuted, as per the provisions of law,” he warned.
Body of July 21 victim brought to Dimapur
Meanwhile, the body of 35-year-old, Chingkhiubo Gonmei who was killed by Assam police yesterday in the gunfight that broke out at Dikoi village, was brought back to Dimapur on Tuesday.
On Monday, Assam police had taken the body to Diphu. A team of Dimapur police and Dikoi villagers had gone to Diphu on Tuesday to retrieve the dead body.After reaching Dimapur at around 5 pm today, the body was immediately buried at Naga Cemetery, Dimapur.
The Chakesang Welfare Committee of Dikoi village has expressed heartfelt condolence to the grieving family of Chingkhiubo Gonmei. While condemning the action of Assam police that led to the death of one of its villagers, the CWC also asked the state government to grant relief to the victim’s family.
