Kohima, April 23 (EMN): New Market colony in Kohima, in collaboration with the district administration, distributed the second phase of relief to the daily wage earners and stranded students residing in the colony on April 23.
Chairman of New market area panchayat, Ruokuobizo Nyusou, informed Eastern Mirror that around 689 households from three sectors of the ward have availed the relief. According to him, 392 households comprised of non-Naga, 12 stranded students, 165 households locals from outside Kohima district, 76 households from kohima district and 132 other beneficiaries.
He said the distribution was done in five different areas in order to maintain social distancing.
“We have little leftover that will be distributed on April 24, at 9 am to those residents who could not avail today,” he said.
The items included rice, salt and dal. Around 10 kgs of rice were given to every household, he mentioned adding lesser amount were given to those who are living alone. He also said that since there was not enough dal for everyone, priority was given to the non-locals.
The first phase of distribution was carried on April 2, where around 2000 individuals availed the relief.
