EMN DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 9 THE Assam Rifles have busted a detention camp of the NSCN-IM in Jalukie Town, Nagaland. According to IGAR (North), on December 7 information was received about illegal detention of five civilians at the ‘Detention Centre’ run by NSCN-IM in Jalukie Town of Peren district. Based on this information, troops of 18 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter 6 Sector AR carried out a search operation. During the search operation, five abducted individuals were found in the custody of NSCN-IM cadres, the IGAR (North) claimed. One of them was bound by iron chains and beaten up and another was found detained since September 14, it added. According to the press note of the IGAR (North), the rescued persons have been identified as James (32) of Tamenglong (Manipur), Mr Siraj (28) of Jalukie Forest Gate (Peren), Mr Izpieu (32) of Jalukie Stadium Colony (Peren), Mr Agumbe (21) of Jalukie Town’s New Market Colony (Peren) and Mr Ranghinglakpe (33) of Ndunglwa (Peren). The detainees were being confined in inhuman and despicable conditions, in gross violation of Human Rights and United Nations Charters, the IGAR (North) alleged. It then said during the search in the ‘Detention Centre’ eleven NSCN-IM cadres who were present and running the centre were taken into custody. They are identified as Regional Service Intelligence (RSI) Asauyenephm (27), Regional Service Intelligence (RSI) Lunglang (22), Khapur Emo (25), Khapur Ewoung (32), Khapur Disong (31), Heideng (65), Razaopeyu Igunraing (28), Leacy Kugiak (35), Along (28), Lungyesing (29), and Abouy (15), the IGAR (North) further claimed. “The last name is only 15 years old which shows that the NSCN-IM is also resorting to the use of child soldiers which is again in contravention to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child,” the IGAR (North) added. Two of the apprehended cadres Khapur Emo and Leacy Kugiak were arrested on November 14 from Nsung (Peren) for illegal tax collection and extortion, it stated. While on bail, these cadres again started indulging in unlawful activities and were rearrested, the IGAR added. All the apprehended cadres have been handed over to Jalukie Police Station, Peren district and a case has been registered, the IGAR (North) said.
